Preparing for the school run!

Today was our first full day in our new house. The move from North to West London went smoothly with two toddlers in tow. This time round we paid for all our belongings to be packed so Monday night was spent with minimal possessions. The children were brilliant and seemed to enjoy the chaos, hiding in boxes and dragging each other around the empty floors.

On Tuesday the removal company arrived early and quickly emptied our house of possessions. We spent most of the morning in the garden and I’m very thankful the weather was warm enough to be outside. Before too long everything was packed into two vans and I admit to having a tear in my eye as we left. I loved our old house but I’m very pleased to say we’re loving our new house!

photoMy husband only managed to take a few days off work so we’ve concentrated on making the lounge and dining room liveable. It’s obviously where we spend a lot of the day although the weather has been so warm it’s been great to throw open the back doors into the garden. I think that open plan living will really suit us, Little Sis has spent the whole day running around the house giggling.

We popped out for a walk to our local shops which coincided with the school run. Yesterday we found out that the toddler will be attending the local nursery in September so I really wanted to see how all the mums were dressed. I have a couple of months to update my wardrobe, I think kaliko will fit in very well with my style and I’ll deserve a little shopping trip once I’ve finished unpacking all those boxes! I’m looking forward to making an effort with my clothes and of course, I can’t wait for the toddler to start enjoying school.

2011 a new me?

I’m so excited about what 2011 will bring. 2010 has had its’ highs with the arrival of Edward as well as the lows with my husband being hospitalised twice. We’ve spent a large part of the year away from home due to his illness which put a dampener on my maternity leave. However we have a lot to look forward to with planning for baby number two and I need to decide whether to return to work or not in a couple of months.

I HAVE to learn to drive this year. Every year I promise myself I will take my test but don’t get round to it. I think it’s essential to be able to drive at my age, especially if we have two children, so this is top of the list.

Secretly I think New Year’s Resolutions are a waste of time. I’ve never managed to keep previous resolutions apart from stopping smoking a few years ago. I wouldn’t want to promise to do things I couldn’t achieve so I’m just going to try to be as good as I can and make a happy home. I have some other hopes which are pretty normal: to lose my post c-section tummy, wean Edward off his 11pm feed and dummy, decide where we want to move to, spend more time with friends, enjoy ourselves more and be happy and grateful for all that we have.

Happy New Year everyone :)
