Review: Baby Sensory

I love being offered products to review but we really really enjoy the opportunity of going to new events where we can learn something or try a different experience! So when we were offered the chance to attend a baby sensory class I was excited.

Baby Sensory provides hundreds of sensory development activities that are great fun for parents and babies to share in the vital first year. The classes include fibre optic light shows, bubbles, bells, musical fun, baby signing, puppet shows, amazing light balls and so much more. Classes are aimed from birth to 13 months with separate sessions for birth to 6 months and 7 months to 13 months.

Classes are held all over the country so we joined our local class in Muswell Hill. The class consisted of about 12 mums and babies and everyone was very friendly. We sat in a semi-circle with our children on our laps and Kaye, the class leader, sat at the front leading each activity. The theme for the class was Mother’s Day and we did lots of different activities which included the Say Hello song with signs, a Mother’s Day tea party with pretend food, ‘dusting’ with pompoms and playing with long ribbons. Socks came off to walk on different textures and we watched bubbles fill the room from a fab bubble machine.

There was lots of music, and the children were encouraged to be active. Edward was a bit bemused and shy as the class obviously knew each other. I enjoyed watching his reaction to the different activities and he loved the music, the bubbles and the opportunity to touch and feel so many different toys and textures. It made me realise that everything is new and exciting for young children and I shouldn’t be afraid to let Edward take his shoes and socks off more often and explore his surroundings.

This is a great class for new parents, a way to meet new friends and get your little one exploring the world around them. I wish I had discovered the classes sooner as Edward is at the top end of the age range. However, Baby Sensory have recently launched Toddler Sense, adventure play sessions for 18 months to 3 years which will hopefully be coming to our area soon.

We were allowed to attend a Baby Sensory session for free for the purpose of review.

Friday Club Life Carnival: your favourite childhood memory

I love Ella’s Notes From Home – do I say that every week? Words don’t come naturally to me and I love that her prompts help me to find my writing voice. This week’s prompt is a goodie: a favourite childhood memory. I find I’ve created false memories from looking back through my old photo albums so I relished the opportunity to be all nostalgic for a while.

It’s taken me a while to whittle down my favourite childhood memory. Some of my favourite memories make me laugh out loud. Such as the first Valentine I received aged about 4. I kept the plastic rose and card for many a year… Or there’s the time my Dad brought his first company car home and he took me and my sister our for a spin with 70s classics blaring on the radio. Or the time I bought some truffles at my school fair only to sit on them but eat them anyway….

All of these memories come from the time we spent living by the seaside. I grew up within walking distance of the beach and have lots of happy memories of days out with my sister and parents. However my favourite memory is of me and my sister putting our roller skates on (the old ones you had to strap to your shoes) and skating down our street with the aid of my grandparents. Although we didn’t live near my grandparents they were both retired so used to come and stay regularly. Perhaps they bought the roller skates with them and that is why this memory stands out for me. I remember being fearless and happy. Who wouldn’t want to bottle that and sell it!

Goodbye QuinnyCasters

For our final QuinnyCasters challenge we were asked “How do you say goodbye to your QuinnyCaster period?” I asked Edward what he thought and we decided to hold a teddy bear’s picnic with our Quinny Zapp Xtra as the special guest.

We sat round our blanket and ate cake and drank fizzy pop.

We shared happy memories of trips out in the Quinny Zapp Xtra.

We even read out our Quinny Zapp Xtra haiku which we composed especially:

Our time as Quinny

Casters is over we have

had fun and made friends

We’ve enjoyed our time as QuinnyCasters and look forward to using the Quinny Zapp Xtra for a very long time.
