Now this is one of those projects which has been sitting around waiting to be finished for ages. I love crafting with Scrabble tiles. I pick up vintage Scrabble sets whenever I see them, the kids love making words with the letter tiles and I have hundreds of them around. So I thought it was about time I made something with them.
Have you seen the cute vintage travel Scrabble sets? They come with a type of peg board so the letter tiles can be slotted into the board and not move around. Well we’ve had one out for ages. I used it a little like my new-ish light box, to make messages for the kids.
I wanted to make something a little more permanent so blew off the dust and picked some new letter tiles for our names.
I wanted the names to be connected so played around until I was happy with how they looked. Then I got my hot glue gun out.
I took off the central letter tiles and added a line of hot glue directly to the Scrabble board, pressing the letters down on top. The hot glue dries quickly so I wiped up any spills of glue as I went along.
I added dots of glue when necessary but it came together really quickly. I left it to dry before placing it in an Ikea box frame. I’m really pleased with our personalised Scrabble wall art and think I will be making a few more of these as gifts.

May 7, 2016 at 12:03 pmI made one of these a few years ago for our family but put them on plain card as I didn’t have the board. I’m wishing I had the board ow as this looks even better. I still keep my eyes open for old scrabble sets in charity shops so maybe I will be able to do a do-over at some point.
