Okido magazine and Messy Goes to Okido on CBeebies

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to discover Okido magazine but I recently came across an issue and we’re all hooked. It is so different from the magazines the children pester me from whilst we food shopping, and in a really good way. Each issue is themed and helps your child learn through the stories, activities and games which stimulate creativity and inspires scientific interest.

The lovable monster called Messy is to feature in his own comedy adventure, science-educational show called ‘Messy goes to Okido’. The BBC has acquired the animation series, the first episode will air on Monday 7th September at 16.20. The show is voiced by Adam Buxton and will be as fun for parents to watch as it is for the pre-school audience.

Messy Goes to Okido

Messy Monster began life as a much-loved hand-drawn character dreamed up by artist Rachel Ortas (co-founder of Okido Magazine), and has been brilliantly re-created in CGI. Messy finds the answers to everything a 2-5 year old child would want to know, with his best friends Zoe and Felix. The brave trio fly to the moon, shrink to the size of atoms and ride on the backs of giant butterflies! The show brings science to life using stories, comedy and adventure.

Messy Goes to Okido retains the essence of Okido Magazine, covering all aspects of science, from nature and biology to technology, from atoms to outer space, and everything in between. The shows careful mix of fantasy elements and take away facts has been led by CBeebies educational advisor Brian Neish and Okido magazine editor and co-founder Sophie Dauvois, herself a scientist.

Tune in at 16.20 on 7th September for more fun! As Messy would say “Balabalaboomboom!”.

I would love for Messy to live with me… I could really do with someone who can answer any question 🙂
