The Amazing Human Body Detectives

I don;t review many children’s book anymore as my children have plenty. However, when I was contacted about Maggie Li’s new book for children age 5+, The Amazing Human Body Detectives, I knew my son would love it. It’s a stunningly illustrated, fun and fact-filled exploration of what makes us tick.

At 5 years old my son is very inquisitive so this book is perfect for him. He doesn’t have many non-fiction books but this is a beautifully illustrated and engaging picture book packed-full of amazing facts about how our body works and how we can stay healthy.

The book comes with a magnifying glass that you can use to explore the fun and funny little details on the pages. This is a lovely introduction to anatomy for young children with just the right amount of text which means he can read most of it himself or with me. You can explore topics such as:

What is skin made of? What is inside a bogie? How do we grow? How do our eyes work?

Join the body detectives on a voyage of discovery all around the human body. See beyond the outer skin, delve deep behind the eyes and learn about your hair, nose, ears, mouth and much more. Of course my son’s favourite page is the Waste Factory where you can learn about wees, poos, burps, trumps, hiccups and sick. He was fascinated by the Bristol Stool Chart although that has meant we’ve received a little more information than we wanted about his toilet habits.

The Amazing Human Body Detectives is published by Pavilion Children’s Books priced £9.99. It is stunningly illustrated by Maggie Li, Art Director of Okido Magazine and author/illustrator of Bug Detective and Big City Explorer. The book is available through Amazon and all good bookshops.

Sounds like an intresting read. I have to say haven’t read very many human body based books, this may be the first 🙂

This book sounds fantastic! I don’t have any kids but I have a lot of friends who have them so I’m always looking for gifts for them. Nice post.
