book review

I Love Woolly and Woolly Loves Me!

I’d love to know how an idea is developed for  pre-schoolers. My children absolutely love Woolly and Tig, the series about a little girl and her pet spider (stuffed, not real). If you haven’t seen it before, each episode features Tig and her cuddly toy spider Woolly, as they explore the feelings that children have when faced with new experiences, such as going to the dentist or the first day at nursery.

Woolly and Tig sticker bookThe children were sent one of the new series of first-experience picture books based on the smash-hit CBeebies show as well as an activity book, the Let’s Play! Sticker Book. Let’s Play is priced at a very reasonable £3.99 and includes over 100 stickers, puzzles, games and colouring. My children adore sticker books so this has been really popular with them.

Night night WoollyThey also received a copy of Night Night, Woolly, priced at £5.99. When Tig wakes up in the night, everything in her room looks different. She can see hairy night monsters everywhere! Can Woolly show Tig that although things can sometimes look scary at night, if you look again, it’s easy to see what’s really there?

This is a lovely book with large pictures and plenty to talk about on each page. Each book in the series features suggestions for adults about ways of using the story to help their child talk about new experiences which is a lovely idea. I think these are great books for any little Woolly and Tig fan!
