nursery potty training

Lots of firsts

The last week has been very busy in the gingerbread household. I’m not sure why everything has happened at once but the toddler was finally potty trained, started at his new pre-school and Little Sis has given up her dummy (during the day) and had a haircut. All this happened with quite a lot of screams, shouts and tears.

The toddler finally started at his pre-school and I’m pleased to say he was potty trained by the time he went. Potty training took up a surprising amount of time and it feels like we tried everything – books, reward charts, rewards, pull ups and big boy pants. Nothing really worked other than constant reminding, putting up with the whinging and just having a little faith. I have never known anyone less interested in potty training, not even when the rewards were high (toy trains and cars). Oh well, fingers crossed his sister will be easier as almost everyone I have spoken to says that girls are.

Little Sis is growing up too. She has been deprived of her dummy during the day which didn’t go down very well but the improvement in her speech is amazing. She is fast approaching her second birthday which is the deadline for getting rid of it for good. I also gave her a haircut in the hope her hair would grow thicker. I can’t tell you how many people have thought she was a boy since then, despite being dressed head to toe in pink!
