Things to do with Scrabble tiles – Scrabble bathroom sign

how to make a Scrabble sign

I can often be found scouring my local charity shops for vintage Scrabble sets. I don’t collect them to play Scrabble, which is a shame as it’s a great game, but I use the Scrabble tiles for crafting! Take a look at my latest post about Scrabble tiles over on PinAddicts if you need some inspiration. I thought it was about time I actually made something with them, other than my Scrabble-inspired tile biscuits.

When we moved into our house the most noticeable thing was the number of empty picture hooks around each room. The place had been covered with pictures and photographs by the last owners, there was even a nail on the bathroom door!

This poor nail caught my eye and I thought I must make something to hang from it, so how about a vintage Scrabble tile sign spelling out the word Bathroom.

All I needed was a wooden Scrabble letter rack, a selection of vintage Scrabble tiles, drill and 2.5mm drill bit, bakers twine and a glue gun.

I got to work with my glue gun and put a small amount of glue along the side of a Scrabble tile before joining the next letter to it and carried on until I had all eight tiles stuck to each other. I tried to ensure they were all straight as I was going along as the glue was so strong there wasn’t much time to move them around.

Whilst it was drying I drilled two small holes at each end of the wooden Scrabble letter rack and threaded it with a length of bakers twice. I then added more hot glue to the back of the row of letters and pressed it firmly in place in the centre of the letter rack.

I love the way it looks and can’t wait to make more for each room! They would also look great as place settings at a dinner party.

This looks fab! I’ve never seen Scrabble in our charity shops so I think someone must be beating me to it already but I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled x

That’s such a good idea – I love that you used the letter rack as well as the letters!
